Partition Horror Memorial Day: 14 August

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to observe 14 August as Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day, a day before Independence Day.
India was partitioned on 14 August 1947 and Pakistan became a separate country.

HCL becomes 4th IT firm to reach market capitalization of 3 trillion

The market capitalization of HCL Technologies reached Rs 3 trillion for the first time.
With this, HCL has become the fourth Indian IT firm after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys and Wipro to achieve this feat.

Four new places of India included in Ramsar list

Four new sites from India (two in Haryana and two in Gujarat) have been included in the list of Ramsar Convention.
These places are:

Thol Lake: Gujarat
Wadhawan: Gujarat
Bhindawas Wildlife Sanctuary: Haryana
Sultanpur National Park: Haryana

With this the total number of Ramsar sites in India has gone up to 46.
The ‘Ramsar Convention’ is an intergovernmental treaty signed in the Iranian city of ‘Ramsar’ on 2 February 1971 for the protection of wetlands of international importance to the world.
