International Day for the Right to Truth Regarding Gross Human Rights Violations and the Dignity of Victims: 24 March

Every year 24 March is celebrated as International Day for the violation of gross human rights and the right to the truth related to the dignity of the victims so that all forms of violence, injustice and oppression against humanity are not called for.
The day is celebrated every year on 24 March to pay tribute to “Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero” as he was assassinated on 24 March 1980. He was actively critical of the human rights violations of the most vulnerable in El Salvador.


Fitch Ratings raised India’s GDP growth forecast to 12.8 percent for 2021-22

Fitch Ratings has raised India’s growth forecast for the next fiscal year 2021-22 to 12.8 percent. Earlier the rating agency had estimated the growth rate to be 11 percent in the next financial year.
Along with this, Fitch has also predicted that India’s GDP will grow at a rate of 5.8% for FY 2022-23.

Captain Asghar Afghan became the highest match-winning captain in T-20 cricket

Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan has become the captain to win the most International T20 matches. He broke the record of 41 wins of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. With this, Asghar became the captain to win the most international T20 matches.

Cipla again appointed Umang Vohra as Managing Director

The board of directors of pharmaceutical company Cipla announced the appointment of Umang Vohra as the managing director and global CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the company for a period of five years.
He has been reappointed from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026.”


International Intellectual Property Index

India has been ranked 40th among 53 countries in the ‘International Intellectual Property Index’ (IP). This index is released annually by the US Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center. It evaluates the intellectual property rights of 53 global economies on the basis of patents, commercialization of IP assets, copyright policies and ratification of international businesses.
1. According to this index, the overall global intellectual property environment improved in 2020. Out of 53 economies, 32 economies had positive scores.
2. India’s overall score has increased from 04 percent in the seventh edition to 38.46 percent in the eighth edition.
3. Among the BRICS countries, India recorded the second largest increase in nine editions with an overall improvement of over 13 percent.
4. The US, UK, Germany, France and Japan are the top five economies in the 2021 Intellectual Property Index.
The United States topped the index, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany.

Ken-Betwa Link Project: Memorandum of Understanding between UP and MP Government

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the project of interlinking the Ken-Betwa rivers in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Water Day (March 22). . Ken Betwa Link Project: One of the 30 river link projects proposed in the country by the National River Development Agency (NWDA) is the Ken-Betwa Link Project. Its estimated cost is about 45000 crores, 90 percent of which will be borne by the Central Government. In this project, water will be transported from Ken river to Betwa river. For this, Daudhan Dam will be built and both rivers will be connected through a canal.


Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Vajra’ included in the fleet

The Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Vajra’ was commissioned by Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat at Kattupalli, Chennai. INS Vajra is the sixth in a series of seven offshore Patrol Vessels and was manufactured by M / s Larsen & Toubro Limited at Kattupalli.
It is a 98 meter long vessel and is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipment, machinery and sensors.


US Senate Confirms Indian-American Dr. Vivek Murthy’s appointment as Surgeon General of President Biden

The US Senate has voted to confirm Indian-American Dr. Vivek Murthy to be Surgeon General of President Biden, handing the administration to one of its top public health officials amid a coronovirus epidemic. Senators voted 57–43 to confirm Indian American as Senator General.
Dr. Vivek Murthy previously served as Surgeon General in Barack Obama’s administration.
He is an American Physician and currently Vice Admiral in the Public Health Service Commission Corps.
