World Day for International Justice: 17 July

International Justice Day is celebrated every year on 17 July.
It is also known as International Criminal Justice Day.
The day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Founding Treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Rome Statute on July 17, 1998.

Manduadih Railway Station renamed as Banaras Railway Station

The Manduadih railway station of Varanasi, which comes under the North Eastern Railway, has now been renamed as Banaras Railway Station.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurates ‘Rudraksh’ convention center in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Rudraksh’ International Cooperation Convention Center built at a cost of Rs 186 crore in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
Its roof is designed in the shape of Shivling and 108 Rudraksha have been installed in the center.
This Rudraksh center has been built in Sigra, Varanasi with the help of Japan.
In this center, you will get a glimpse of IndoJapan art and culture.

Ladakh inks agreement with Sikkim to turn it into an organic unit by 2025

Union Territory of Ladakh has signed an agreement with Sikkim State Organic Certification Agency to make Ladakh organic farming by 2025.
Ladakh has been divided into three phases for organic certification.
Sikkim is the first “100% organic” state in India.
Lakshadweep is India’s first 100% organic union territory.

Andhra Pradesh announces 10% reservation for EWS (Economically Weaker Sections)

Andhra Pradesh government has announced 10% reservation for Kapu community and other Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in admission to educational institutions and appointments to posts and services.
EWS Reservation: 103rd Constitutional Amendment 2019, Article 15(6), Article 16(6)
Persons who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
Those whose family’s gross annual income is less than Rs.8 lakh are recognized as eligible for the benefit of reservation (EWS) only.

Famous actress Surekha Sikri passed away

Renowned actress Surekha Sikri passed away at the age of 75.
Surekha Sikri was given the National Award three times for Best Supporting Actress in the film ‘Tamas’ in 1988, ‘Mammo’ in 1995 and ‘Badhaai Ho’ in 2018.
She was last seen in the film ‘Ghost Stories’ in 2020.


Pulitzer Prize winning Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui dies in Taliban attack

Danish Siddiqui was assassinated in Kandahar province of Afghanistan during coverage of a fight between Afghan soldiers and the Taliban.
He worked for the international news agency Reuters.
He received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2018.
The Pulitzer Prize is a major award given by America for journalism.
It was started in the year 1917.
First Indian to receive Pulitzer Prize: Gobind Bihari Lal (1937)
The award carries a certificate and prize money of $15,000.
