PV Sindhu won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2021

Indian badminton player PV Sindhu won the bronze medal by defeating He Bingjiao of China in the Tokyo Olympics.
With this, Sindhu has become the first Indian woman player and the second Indian to win two medals at the Olympics.
Prior to this, he had won a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Chen Yu Fei of China has won the gold medal in this event.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar became the first Indian athlete to win two individual Olympic medals by winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics (2008) and a silver medal at the London Olympics (2012).

India has taken over the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of August on 01 August 2021.
This is the first time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the first Indian PM to chair the UNSC.
Earlier the UNSC was headed by France.
Each member country of the UNSC presides over the council for one month.
UNSC is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations.

Runner Mann Kaur passed away at the age of 105

Chandigarh’s famous runner Man Kaur passed away at the age of 105.
He started running at the age of 93.
He was also called the ‘miracle from Chandigarh’.
He rose to fame in 2017 after winning the 100m sprint at the World Masters Games in Auckland.
Maan Kaur was known as the “Miracle Mom of Chandigarh”.
In the year 2020, she was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India.
