On 25 March 2021, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the Kurnool Airport in Andhra Pradesh. This airport has been developed under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik-RCS-UDAN.
Kurnool Airport will commence its flight operations from 28 March 2021.
Kurnool is the 6th airport in Andhra Pradesh after Kadapa, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada.


Asha Bhosle to get Maharashtra Bhushan Award for 2020

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle will be honored with the prestigious ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ award 2020 for the year 2020. Asha Bhosle is the first Indian singer to be nominated for a Grammy Award. In the year 2002, he was honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Maharashtra Bhushan Award: This award was first presented in the year 1995. Initially this award was given in the fields of literature, art, sports and science, now social work, journalism, public administration and health services have also been included in it. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a citation.
First Maharashtra Bhushan Award Marathi writer P.L. Deshpande was given.


Senior litterateur Sharad Pagare awarded ‘Vyas Samman’ of the year 2020

Vyas Samman has been announced to senior litterateur Sharad Pagare on behalf of KK Birla Foundation for the year 2020. This award has been given to him for his novel ‘Pataliputra Ki Samraani’ which was released in 2010. He is the first Hindi writer from Madhya Pradesh to receive the Vyas Samman.
Vyas Samman: Vyas Samman was started in 1991 by KK Birla Foundation. This honor is given to an Indian writer for any of his masterpiece published within the last ten years. Under this, a citation and insignia are presented with a prize money of four lakh rupees.
The first Vyas Samman was given in 1991 for Ramvilas Sharma’s work ‘Ancient Language Family of India and Hindi’.

Kerala’s TB eradication program received national award

The tuberculosis (TB) eradication program of Kerala has won national accolades as the state awarded the Central Government Award for reducing the prevalence of the disease through various systematic initiatives. Kerala is the only state which has been selected for recognition in the state category.


Khelo India plan extended to 2025-26

The Ministry of Sports has decided to extend the “Khelo India Program” from 2021-22 to 2025-26. The Ministry has also submitted the Expenditure Finance Committee – EFC memorandum to the Ministry of Finance to expand the annual program. According to the memorandum, an amount of 8,750 crores has been estimated for the new Khelo India scheme. An allocation of Rs 657.71 crore has been allocated in the budget estimate for the year 2021-22 under the Khelo India Scheme.
The first edition of Khelo India was held in Delhi. The second was held in Pune and the third edition was held in Assam. The fourth edition of Khelo India will be held in Panchkula, Haryana after the Tokyo Olympics.

CBSE launches ‘Competency Based Assessment Framework’

The CBSE Assessment Framework has been launched for three major subjects Science, Maths and English up to class 6-10. This competition is based. This initiative has been taken under the National Education Policy (NEP).

CJI Bobde recommends Justice NV Ramanna to be the next Chief Justice of India

Chief Justice of India Justice SA Bobde has recommended the Central Government to appoint the senior-most Justice of the Supreme Court Justice NV Ramanna as the next Chief Justice of India. CJI Bobde is due to retire on 23 April.
Justice Bobadene was sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of India in November 2019.
Traditionally, the sitting Chief Justice writes a recommendation for his potential successor.


World’s first ship tunnel will be built in Norway

The world’s first ship tunnel will be built in Norway. Construction on this project will begin in 2022 and will be completed by 2025-2026.
Norway plans to build a ship tunnel under the mountains in the Stadhavet Peninsula. The tunnel will be 37 meters high, 1,700 meters long and 26.5 meters wide. The construction of this tunnel will cost a total of $ 315 million.
