Sadbhavana Day: 20 August

Every year on 20 August, Sadbhavna Diwas is celebrated across the country on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
This day is also known as Samarsata Diwas and Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Day.
Rajiv Gandhi’s 77th birth anniversary is being celebrated this year.
The Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavna Award was instituted by the Indian National Congress in the year 1992.
Prize money: Rs 10 lakh
Rajiv Gandhi was the 6th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989.
He brought the National Education Policy (NEP) in the year 1986 and established Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in the same year.


Renewable Energy Day: 20 August

Every year on 20 August, Renewable Energy Day is celebrated in India.
The day was started by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources in the year 2004.
Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh released a commemorative postage stamp in 2004, and 12,000 school children formed a human chain to promote renewable energy.


Olympian PR Sreejesh named brand ambassador of Kerala Adventure Tourism

Former captain of the Indian national hockey team, PR Sreejesh has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Adventure Tourism in Kerala.
Parattu Ravendran Sreejesh (PR Sreejesh) was a goalkeeper in the bronze medal winning Indian hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics-2020.

Hakande Hichilema wins Zambia’s presidential election

South African country Zambia’s opposition leader Hakande Hichilema has won the country’s presidential election by getting 59.38% of the vote.
Hakande Hichilema’s party name is United Party for National Development.
He will replace the current President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.


Odisha to sponsor Indian hockey teams for next 10 years

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced to sponsor Indian Hockey teams for the next 10 years.
The Government of Odisha is sponsoring the Indian Hockey teams since the year 2018.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister also presented a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to each hockey player.
Indian men’s hockey team has won bronze medal after 41 years in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

India and Vietnam bilateral maritime military exercise

A bilateral maritime military exercise was conducted in the South China Sea between the navies of India and Vietnam.
INS Rannvijay and INS Kora participated from the Indian side in this exercise.
The frigate VPNS Lai Thai Tu participated on behalf of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN).
