Assam government announces removal of Rajiv Gandhi’s name from Orang National Park

The Assam government has announced the removal of Rajiv Gandhi’s name from the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park’ situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra.
Now this park will be known as ‘Orang National Park’.
Orang National Park: This park was declared a sanctuary in the year 1985.
In 1999 it was recognized as a national park.
India’s first national park to be equipped with satellite phones: Kaziranga National Park (Assam)
National Parks of Assam: There are total 07 national parks in Assam.

National Education Policy (NEP): The New Education Policy 2020 was announced by the Government of India on 29th July 2020.

Under the new education policy, a target of public expenditure of 6% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been set.

Sri Lanka declares ‘food emergency’

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared food emergency on August 31, 2021 over the food crisis in the country.

Tokyo Paralympics 2020 gold medalist Avani Lakhera has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign by the Rajasthan government.
19-year-old Avani Lekhara from Jaipur has won a gold medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle SH1 event.
This is India’s first gold medal in shooting at the Paralympics.
