Padma Sachdev, a modern woman poet of Dogri language, passed away

Padma Sachdev, the first modern woman poet of Dogri language, passed away at the age of 81.
He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1971 for his poetry collection ‘Meri Kavita Mere Geet’.
In the year 2007-08, he was awarded the Kabir Samman for poetry by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Sachdev for his book ‘Chit Chete‘ in 2016 received the 25th Saraswati Award.

Dogri is a language spoken in the Indian state of Jammu, Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and some provinces of northern Punjab.
In the year 2003, it was included in the 08th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
