World Alzheimer’s Day: 21 September

World Alzheimer’s Day is celebrated every year on 21 September with the aim of raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.
The theme of World Alzheimer’s Day 2021 is “Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s”
This is a disease related to dementia, due to which a person starts losing his memory.

The Global Innovation Index 2021 was released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 20 September 2021.
India has been ranked 46th out of 132 countries in this index.
India has moved up 2 places this year as compared to last year’s ranking.

Recently Iran has officially become the 9th member country of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Iran was till now included in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an observer country.

Announcement to rename ‘Chhindwara University’ of Madhya Pradesh after ‘Raja Shankar Shah University’

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to rename ‘Chhindwara University’ after ‘Raja Shankar Shah University’ on the occasion of 164th sacrifice day of Raja Shankar Shah and his son Kunwar Raghunath Shah.
Raja Shankar Shah was the king of the Gondwana kingdom.


R. Raja Ritwik becomes India’s 70th Chess Grandmaster

17-year-old R. Raja Rithvik from Tamil Nadu has become the 70th Chess Grandmaster.
He won this title in the Vezrkepazzo Grandmaster Chess Tournament held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

World Bank ceases publication of its ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report

Recently the World Bank has decided to stop publication of its ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report.
This decision has been taken after reviewing the data irregularities in the reports for the year 2018 and 2020.
‘Ease of Doing Business’ report: This report was first released in the year 2003.
India was ranked 63rd in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report 2019-20.

Pankaj Advani won the title of Asian Snooker Championship 2021

India’s most successful billiards and snooker player Pankaj Advani has won the title of Asian Snooker Championship 2021.
He has won this title for the second time in a row.
Pankaj Advani has also won the Asian Snooker Championship in the year 2019.
Pankaj Advani was awarded Arjuna Award in 2004, Rajiv Gandhi Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2006.
After this he was also awarded Padma Shri in 2009 and Padma Bhushan in 2018.


15th joint military exercise “Surya Kiran” between India and Nepal

The 15th edition of the joint military exercise “Surya Kiran” to be held between India and Nepal was started from 20 September 2021.
This year the exercise is being conducted in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
Earlier in the year 2019 “Surya Kiran” exercise was conducted in Nepal.
This exercise was canceled in the year 2020 of Covid-19.


Maritime exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ between India and Indonesia

The third edition of the bilateral maritime exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ between the navies of India and Indonesia is being conducted from 20 September to 22 September 2021.
The exercise is being conducted in the Sunda Strait of Indonesia.
