Brigadier SV Saraswati conferred with National Florence Nightingale Award 2020

Brigadier SV Saraswati, Deputy Director General of Military Nursing Service has been conferred with the ‘National Florence Nightingale Award’ 2020.
This award is given to the nurse for her immense contribution.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner Kailash Satyarthi Appointed SDG Advocate

Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi has been appointed as a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) advocate at the 76th United Nations General Assembly by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
In addition to Kailash Satyarthi, STEM activist Valentina Munoz Rabnal, Microsoft President Brad Smith and K-pop superstar Blackpink have been appointed as the new SDG advocates.
With this, there are now a total of 16 SDG advocates in the UN.
Kailash Satyarthi has been jointly awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize with Pakistani women’s education activist Malala Yousafzai.

UNESCO declares Mura-Drava-Danube (MDD) as ‘Biosphere Reserve of five countries’

Recently, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared the Mura-Drava-Danube (MDD) the world’s first ‘Biosphere Reserve of five countries’.
With this the Mura-Drava-Danube (MDD) Biosphere Reserve has become the ‘largest riverine protected area in Europe’.
Five countries Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Serbia have agreed for its protection.
Total Biosphere Reserve in India at present: 18
Biosphere Reserves included in the list of UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Reserves Program: 12

Zee Entertainment and Sony Pictures merger

The merger between ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has been announced.
After this merger, 52.93% controlling stake will remain with Sony.
ZEEL, on the other hand, will hold 47.07% stake.
Zee Entertainment CEO Puneet Goenka will be the MD and CEO in the merged company for a period of 5 years.
Zee Media is not involved in this deal, it is a separate company.

Recently two beaches of India, Kovalam (Tamil Nadu) and Eden (Puducherry) have been awarded ‘International Blue Flag Certification’.
With this, the total number of beaches in India that have been awarded the International Blue Flag certification has gone up to 10.

Ministry of Law and Justice launches “Ek Pahal” campaign

Recently a campaign named “Ek Pahal” has been started by the Ministry of Law and Justice to encourage mass registration under Tele-Law.
This campaign will be run across the country from September 17 to October 2.
Tele-law: Providing legal information and advice to the public through communication and technology by panel lawyers.
